statement from the artist:

Bed·room Com·mu·ni·ty: (noun) a residential suburb inhabited largely by people who commute to a nearby city for work. Isn’t it a romantic idea that a place exists solely for us to rest our heads at night? A place we only come to relax after a long day, the place where we have all of our dreams. It’s dark and sleepy. It wraps around you like a warm blanket, until it’s time to wake and do it all over again.

This work is a recreation of the artist’s dream journal, incorporating black & white photographs made in Staten Island, NY.

bio:

Grace Tyson is a fine artist currently based in Rochester, NY. She received a BFA in Photography from Purchase College in 2015. Her work is an attempt to visually describe the human experience within narratively-driven projects, often developing in book form. While her practice is rooted in photography & photo books, she utilizes a variety of mediums in her work including drawing, painting & fiber arts.
